The box plot, or box-and-whisker plot, displays measures of central tendency, dispersion, and position in one. The data values appear along the horizontal axis while the vertical axis remains blank. The height of the plot does not matter. The frequencies are illustrated by the width of each box and length of each whisker.

Consists of a box extending from Q1 to Q3 with Q2 (the median) indicated within the box. Additionally, "whiskers" are extended to the minimum and maximum values.

Consider the following example using data from our class members.
