Scenario (Business Case) FFC was established in 2020 to provide a safe, efficient, accessible, and affordable ground dispatching service that is responsive to the needs and requirements of its customers. It offers various services, including pre-booked small to medium vans and trucks and packaging services. FFC has its operations in Edmonton, AB, and is a small company with 28 employees altogether, and 20 of the employees represent the dispatching crew (drivers and packers). The other eight are responsible for administrative office operations. FFC operates out of one building consisting of two floors. The upper consists of a reception area (one staff), a shared large office with four employees, an Operations Manager and Chief Executive offices (each in their respective office), and a small meeting room. There is a large storage room at the back of the upper floor. Dispatch operates 24 hours from the lower floor and with three shifts (eight-hour each shift). There is one dispatch supervisor for viewing dispatched requests who is located on the lower floor. Each administrative employee has a good functioning desktop computer, and each is connected separately via CAT 6e cables to a single shared 10 MB switch. The software used to manage the business operations is stored on the receptionist system and shared with the others. The receptionist system remains consistently on. The current network is experiencing major data transfer issues and availability.
