(a) Establish the general criteria for the dopability of a polymer in terms of the polymer properties (IP, Eox , Ered , EA) and the properties of the dopant or the applied potential in the case of electrochemical doping. (b) Use the tabulated values of Eox and Ered of polyacetylene, poly(p-phenylene), polythiophene, and polypyrrole to discuss the electrochemical doping of these four polymers. (c) Obtain and tabulate the standard reduction potentials of 6 dopants, including NO+ , Na, I2 (solid), Br2 (liquid) and AlCl 3 . Choose the remaining one yourself. Comment on the potential of each of the six dopants to effect p-type or n-type doping on any known conjugated polymer.
