The copyOf method was added in Java $6.$ If you use Java $5,$ replace

double$[]$ newValues $=$ Arrays.copyOf$($values$,$ n$)$

with

double$[]$ newValues $=$ new double$[$n$]$;

for $($int i $=0$; i $<$ n && i $<$ values.length; i$++)$
