Question:
The COVID-19 Pandemic evidenced that our current approach towards CSR is too slow, conservative, and merely lip service. It does not compensate for the damage that humans have done, it is not even a contest. There is a need for a more radical reconnection to society, and that more altruistic measures are perhaps the only way forward".
To what extent do you think that the current approach to CSR is outdated and how can we radically reengage with society altruistically?
Explanation:
This is an appropriate question especially post the pandemic which has set off a series of arguments if we have brought upon ourselves this calamity. The continuous deploring resources, loss of habitat, climatic change have called into question if we have exploited the earth beyond its biophysics. The pandemic has been seen as a 'great reset', to set us to rethink how humans can coexist with the earth. Ironically, the pandemic also raises a question if our current CSR requirements and corporate reporting is just not doing enough to stop the corporations in their profit-making rampage. This question is aptly because if nothing is done radically to educate these corporations, we, the humans, sadly, might not survive the next onslaughts of calamity.
