The main compressor is isentropic and compresses the R134a vapor up to a 1.2 MPa pressure. Some of the saturated vapor is taken at the exit of the condenser (State 3) and is expanded to an intermediate pressure (State 6) by a throttling valve. Thus, a subcooling is provided. The compressor that provides compression from intermediate pressure to condensing pressure is also isentropic.
