At present, the average overburden effective stress on the clay is $130$kPa and

the average in$-$situ void ratio is $0\mathrm{.}69.$ It is proposed that a building be

constructed, which will increase the average effective stress to $285$kPa.

In the previous homework, you plotted the above results and estimated the

preconsolidation pressure of the clay using the Casagrande procedure. Using

that information:
