The upgrade to the works includes the construction of a new inlet works, biological reactor,
clarifier, distribution boxes, RAS pump station and a sludge dewatering facility. The upgrade
will improve the performance of the Rooiwal Water Treatment Plant to meet the Department of
Water and Sanitation Green Drop requirements and will accommodate all the new developments
