The first article (Troy Duster) gives a good overview of the field and raised some important (troubling) questions, the article on genetic discrimination in Australia is mainly a quantitative data report of a big population survey while the 'Technologies of Population' text recalls several topics we spoke about in the course, and Kajlich's article on Indigenous People and genetic Population discusses the notion of [legal] consent in relation to DNA population research.

Please answer 2 of the 3 questions:

Question 1: At the end of his article Troy Duster indicates three potential scenarios for how social scientist ought to react to the new notions of genetic race. What are these positions and what do you think is the most valuable one?

Question 2: Is it the role of the law to set up stronger regulations for use of genetic data? How could this be done? Reflect on the Taylor/ Treloar article to answer this question.

Question 3: M'charek argues that genetic "populations" are produced - she names 7 variations! - in the lab determined by the particular "methodology" of that lab. Do you find her argument convincing?
