Question:
The Journal Entry Application's (JEA) function is to create journal entries. The JEA receives notice from the Billing Process Application (BPA) that
an invoice has been created. The JEA requests the corresponding Sales Order (SO), Goods Delivered Note (GDN) and invoice from the Manage
Documents Application (MDA). The JEA matches the SO, GDN and invoice before a journal entry is created. When the documents match without
exception, the JEA creates a journal entry to debit accounts receivable and credit sales.
An exception report is generated for discrepancies between the SO, GDN and invoice. The sales manager resolves issues and works with the
warehouse, shipping and billing managers, as needed, to correct the problems and the controller or accounting manager is notified of the problem
and reviews the results. The order is canceled in the system and a new one is created and processed.
The JEA interfaces with the Post Journey Entry Application (PJEA). Error reports are generated for exceptions and resolved by the billing manager
and the controller or accounting manager is notified of the problem and reviews the results.
