One member, the Director of Surgical Services, is not happy that the system requires confirmation of patient financial responsibility before booking elective surgeries. Another member, the Director of Patient Accounting, is pushing for this confirmation. They are concerned by the number of elective surgeries performed on patients without financial means to pay for the services received. The Director of Patient Accounting believes that redundant checks, including the one in the surgery scheduling system, will assure that elective surgery patients can pay for their procedures.
