The PESTEL analysis and the Five Forces model both identify changes in the external environment of an organization. The interesting changes are those over which the organization has no control, and which can have large positive and negative effects. Identify one such change which would have a large positive effect on one organization and a large negative effect on a direct competitor. For example, more stringent drilling regulations from the EPA would hurt small independent oil companies because of the cost, and help ExxonMobil which can afford it.
