Question:
The “Plan and Execute a Play Day” assignment is the chance for you to apply some of the knowledge you will gain from this course. It will be your responsibility to create the play day for children. You will be the “Event Coordinator” which will include planning the day, date, and time, how long the day will last, have a minimum of 5 children, and what materials/equipment you will need to execute the day. The minimum amount of time you will plan for your play day is 2 hours. You are welcome to plan the day for any age group up to 12 years old. Please be safe about anything you plan.
What are the key factors to this assignment? I look for what you have learned regarding play and tying your Play Day into our course content. Taking five children to the park certainly will give them some play but this is more of a planned play day than that. You do not want to plan just one activity, for example.
For the written portion of the assignment, you will include and submit the following (as noted in the Course Syllabus):
a) name and description of the event (full description and not just short paragraphs)
b) what was involved in planning the event?
c) describe the children involved in your play day (you do not need to use real names or you can use just first names only)
d) describe how you feel the event went. What could have been better planned? What worked or did not work? This is the section you will include your analysis of the event from the conception to the execution to the finale.
