The POLC framework outlines four core management functions: planning, organising, leading and controlling. These four functions form the resources an organisation uses to achieve its business objectives.

A team may often see more of the leading and controlling aspects in their manager$$s actions but planning and organising are essential to effective leading and controlling. When an organisation is faced with challenges, managers should solve problems creatively. To do this, they set objectives and determine the best course of action $($planning$),$ organise the people and resources needed to carry out the plan $($organising$),$ influence employees and motivate them to work towards the common goal $($leading$),$ and ensure that performance does not deviate from the standard $($controlling$).$ The POLC framework therefore provides a very useful way of classifying the different functions of a manager. With this in mind, please discuss the following:

$1.$ Core management functions: With reference to the POLC framework, discuss the four management functions and how they relate to your organisation$$s business objectives $(25$ marks$).$ Explain how your department ties into the function it relates to and identify and briefly elaborate on the management function most applicable to you $(10$ marks$).$
