Question:
The problem I have identified is that healthcare leaders could benefit from addressing the issue of stress and burnout, which impact revenue (Scott, 2022). I have found a peer-reviewed article discussing how my profession's leaders could benefit from addressing stress. The article is titled "The Impact of Stress on Leadership Effectiveness" and was published in the Journal of Business and Psychology in 2016. The article discusses how stress can impact a leader's ability to lead effectively. The article also discusses how clinicians can address stress to improve their effectiveness. The implications of this problem for leaders are that they need to be aware of the impact that stress can have on their ability to lead and take steps to address stress to improve their effectiveness (Scott, 2022).
The article review discussed the problem of poor health services in the nursing industry due to stress and burnout. Leadership in nursing addresses the provision of poor health services because they understand the importance of implementing a solution to the problems to the hospitals' performance. The leaders attempt to equip the hospital staff with the importance of quality service provision and even involve some nurses in training that betters their skills(Ghiasipour et al., 2017).
According to Ghiasipour, M. et al. (2017) the leaders also play a mandate of controlling the hospital revenue to direct a certain amount of the income into development projects that would improve the quality of services provided to the patients. This is important to the nurse leaders as it makes the hospital manage to navigate the changes that come with implementing new projects and technology. Good leadership solves this problem, creating a conducive environment for the worker nurses, who might change the decision to leave the company as they wanted before due to poor health services.
The implications of this problem to the hospital leader would be a reduced conducive working environment for them and the whole workforce, hence reducing the effectiveness of the services offered, thus reducing the general revenue income of the industry. This is because there is a high correlation between effective leadership and high-quality work in the environment (Ghiasipour et al.,2017).
QUESTION:
As I did more research, it made me think of the relationship between the quest for profit and the care needed to create a healthy workplace. Do you think having a high-profit, healthy employee workplace is possible? If so, what type of leader might be most able to establish this balance within the workplace?
