The Research Timeline Assignment Instructions include at least 24 dates that relate to some topic that is relevant to this course (Comparative Civilization) The choice of dates should make sense in the context of the chosen topic. Feel free to include key historical events in the timeline, but the general focus of the timeline has to fit into the theme.

If it is not clear how your dates fit together, or if you have helpful information designed to explain why you chose the dates you chose to support your timeline topic, feel free to include a sentence or two explaining your timeline. This is optional and is not required if your topic/date choices are self-evident.

If you have any notes about your choice of dating schemes (BC/AD or BCE/CE or other date information about choice of Creationist or Evolutionary time frames, feel free to include it as a note. Choose a topic from a relevant part of the worlddo NOT include a timeline on the United States or a Western Civilization topic. It is fine to include some dates from the US and Europe, but your main focus should be on the non-western world.

Theme can relate to a specific module theme from the course, but ideally it would be a separate theme that could touch on all of the themes discussed.

For example, appropriate themes might include:

o Women's fashion

o Military technology

o Maps

o Food

o Art

o Theology

Topic/dates provide a broad scope of history. Timeline has to shows significant coverage of history through at least two of the following measures:

o Chronological scope

o Geographical scope

o Cultural scope

Ideally, do not choose a particular nation, since it will be to broad overview of history. Timeline in chronological order.

The timeline should be clear and easy to read Examples of ways to do it-

o Divide dates into groups of five

o Divide dates into relevant groupings--for example, by millennia.

o Provide your dates in a numbered list.
