The restaurant that you have designed a concept and menu for now needs a home. You are to select a site that reflects sound site selection criteria, and it must be accessible to your target market. The site you select does not actually need to be available for lease or sale. It may currently be occupied or unoccupied; however, it should not be a park or public land. The occupancy cost is not an issue of concern for this portfolio. However, the location you choose needs to reflect your restaurant concept (i.e. an upscale restaurant concept requires an upscale location).
Complete the following two (2) maps to scale for distances and dimensions (Do this to the best of your ability; one suggestion is to use Google maps as a starting point).
Location Map
Prepare a scale map of the two (2) kilometers around your selected site which you will place in the center of the page.
Label your proposed property site.
Plot all retail food outlets that are reasonable competitors for your concept and target market.
Number & classify in a legend these establishments as direct or indirect competitors.
Explain your reasons in each case.
Show where your target markets are located.
Minimum 2.5 cm border required, include a map title, scale, indicate north on your map.
Site Plan
Prepare a scale site plan of your chosen property and the surrounding area. The site plan will indicate how your site is to be laid out. (Again, do this to the best of your ability; one suggestion is to use Google satellite imagery as a starting point if you are choosing an existing location).
Include streets and intersections that are relevant to your location.
Indicate the location of the building, garbage, parking, signage, foliage, entrance, and egress and any other key features on the map.
Indicate major traffic flows on your site and surrounding your site.
Minimum 2.5 cm border required, include a map title, scale, indicate north on your map.
RATIONAL (Approx. 1,000 words (4 5 pages double spaced)
Prepare a written summary and rational for your location and site layout. You should indicate your key assumptions and rational for each of your major decisions.
