The sales of Butter had declined in the 1990s and early 2000s, and the dairy industry is doing several marketing research to increase market share. An advertising company was hired by the Best Butter Corporation, which in turn hired A/R/C Research (www.arcresearch.com) to identify the cause of low butter sales. The Research Company sought to understand the preferences of consumers toward Butter. Through extensive focus groups, household observations, and telephone surveys, A/R/C was able to understand the underlying preferences of consumer towards butter consumption. The finding of this research revealed how people used butter, what made them want it and with what foods they used it? They found that 68 percent of butter is consumed at home and it is not a common man's food. Still different varieties of butter was used in combination with certain foods such as cereals, pastries etc. At the same time people really missed when they couldn't find enough butter in the market. Advertising Agency started a promotion campaign with a tagline "Butter my Diet" and used celebrities from film industry and sports personalities. This innovative advertising gained attention. Through marketing research and the advertising campaign, Butter sales increased and continued to be stable during the year 2020.
