The sample population in thisprobability study will be attained from a computerized count ofsurgery patients. The sampling method guarantees that participant of the sample populace has theability to be represented, which will reduce sample errors and bias. Utilizing a computerizedrandomizing algorithm, the last four digits of the patient's surgical file will be chosen until thesample size of 125 is attained. After the informed consent is read and signed, the patients will beseparated into two groups based on the last number of the participants' surgical record.Participants whose surgical files end in even numbers will receive standard nursing diagnoseswhile participants whose surgical files end in odd numbers will receive surgery specific nursingdiagnoses.After assignment ofparticipantsto groups, the researcher provides thepostoperativenursing diagnoses to the experimental group and evaluates the dependent variable in all subjectsto determine the difference in value between the groups.Research Design:The design for this research study is a Quantitative Experimental Pre-test Post-test ControlGroupsince it hasrandomized assignments which produce experimental and control groups thatare comparable. Experimental designs are the conclusive method of establishing proof ofcausality as well as assuring a high degree of internal validity.
