1. The sample space for an experiment is given by

S = {3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11,12,13,14,15,16,17,18}. Let events A and B be given by:

A = {4, 8, 12, 16}, B = {3, 8, 13, 16, 18}.

a. List the elements in the event "A or B".

b. List the elements in the event "not B" (the complement of B).

Show all work. For any numerical value that you don't use 1-var stats (or LinReg(ax+b)) or pull a value from a given table, you need to show work. If you give an answer with no work, you will receive a major deduction in points (possibly no credit at all).

If you use a calculator function other than 1-var stats, show the function name and all inputs. For binomial probability calculations, use calculator functions. For normal distributions, use calculator functions and conversions from z to x or x to z. I will not give credit for use of calculator functions that change the values of mu and sigma from 0 and 1.

If you use a formula, show the formula, then the input values and the result.

For the sketches required, label the variable on the horizontal axis (z or x), show the middle line and the value there. Show any boundaries, and shade the appropriate section described. If an area is given, show where that area is in the picture and label its value.
