The situation is this: Provide the regex code that would be required to meet the task presented. Describe the relevance of the task: Were regular expressions the best or only way to approach the task? What other data or tasks could be used to increase effectiveness or better achieve the goal presented? After reviewing the data there are a couple of tasks I would give to the IT expert. The first would be to standardize the inputs of each category. The data input isn't consistent within a given category. The inconsistencies could lead to issues when trying to manipulate the data sets at a later time. The second task would be to protect all the sensitive information such as SSN with the "xxx" format used to protect the credit card number. The last task for this discussion would be to identify any member that has spent $5000 or more in the last 6 months in order to offer this group a special promotion.
