The State of Missouri mandates that any person having reasonable cause to suspect that an eligible adult presents with the likelihood of suffering serious physical harm or bullying as defined in subdivision (2) of section 192.2400 and is in need of protection services and (then all listed reporters, known as mandated reports) must report.

In the state of Missouri to report a suspected adult or child abuse, mandated reporters are to contact, Missouri Department of Social Services for adults, and/or Child Abuse and Neglect Hotline for children. You can contact 1-800-392-2728 on the following number (s) 24/7. If you are hearing or speech impaired call 1-800-735-2466 (voice) or 1-800-735-2966 (text). DO NOT WAIT. To make a report you can speak with a live person, you may have to leave a voice mail for a call back (be sure to have your name, number, and details for the caller to call you back). Upon reporting have your name, number and position and relation to the person you are reporting on, have their name and as many details related to the abuse as possible. Scenario for reporting:
The patient is driving home from dialysis and obviously unsafe. His vital signs are not stable although the patient is insistent to drive to and from dialysis. Patient refuses to give up driving privilege and says that this is none of our business. After repeated incidents manager feels that we no choice but to Hotline the situation due to the danger that this patient is bringing to himself and others by driving while his 02 saturations are in the 70-80%, along with elevated blood pressures patient is also very unstable on his feet. A call was made to the Missouri Department of Social Services, report given, and a visit was made to this patient's home within 48 hours of the call.
