As an advisor, I would recommend Malika to choose initiative A. Adopt electronic health records (EHR) technology to reduce coding and billing errors. EHR systems are very costly to implement and train staff, but I think it has more pros than cons once implemented. EHRs help better manage patient care by providing accurate/ up-to-date patient health information and having this information available in one place when needed. EHRs reduce the amount of time providers spend doing paperwork by having a secure sharing of information with other providers, patients, and healthcare staff. Also, EHRs helps with better patient diagnosis, higher patient satisfaction, reimbursements, and revenue cycle management. EHRs have a lot of benefits but as I mentioned, if staff are not trained properly than having the system means nothing. The organization will still run into inaccurate data entries that lead to claim denials. Denials can have a huge impact on an organization affecting the bottom line. All staff involved in documentation need to be trained including physicians. Involved staff should understand that improved documentation equals improved reimbursement
