Question:
The term "value added" describes the enhancement an organization gives to a product or service before offering it to clients. It can be considered as an extra special feature added by the organization or agency to increase the value of a product or service.
Value added applies to instances when an organization takes a product or service that may be considered homogeneouswith few differences from other providers, if any, that provides a feature or add-on benefit that gives it a greater perception of value. For instance, an organization may offer an after-school program for at-risk children that involves the typical sports and arts and crafts programs but adds something in a way that no one has thought of before. Perhaps, a paired mentor/tutor for helping with academic studies, or partners with a food pantry to provide a nutritious after school meal.
1. In thinking about the Outcomes of a program (long term effects on the population of interest in the organization's mission) for the organization what kinds of indicators can we use to measure (count) the added value the volunteer program brings to the organization? How would you collect that data?
