Thematic analysis is a way to study qualitative data by finding patterns or themes that show what participants experienced. There are two ways to do it: inductive and deductive. Inductive means finding themes directly from the data, which is good for exploring new things. Deductive means using existing theories or research to find themes, which is good for building on what we already know (Thomas, 2006). The steps for thematic analysis include getting familiar with the data, coding by giving labels to important parts, finding initial themes by grouping similar codes, reviewing and refining the themes, giving them clear names, looking at how the themes are connected, and finally reporting the findings with quotes that show what the participants said. To go from the raw data to the themes, we need to read the data carefully, compare different parts, and think about what it all means.
