There are many potential challenges to consider which could directly affect who is part of the quality improvement team. Resistance is most likely going to be the most common potential barrier to carrying out the intended quality improvement project. Every member of the team must understand that they are each a vital member and are contributing to the project. In addition, the roles that are delegated to the quality improvement team must be defined clearly and respected throughout the project. The team leader should also address any potential risk for resistance or unintended changes that could lead to compromise. A barrier associated with utilizing the PDSA cycle includes not being able to identify a cause for a quality care problem and it does not help change ideas. As a result, all stakeholders are affected, and it could create a delay in progress if not addressed right away (Silver, 2016). Expand upon your colleague's post or offer an alternative strategy recommendation and/or alternative stakeholders to take part in the quality improvement team described by your colleague.
