Question:
There has been a recent Twitter trend in which individuals complete the Global Competencies Inventory and discuss their results. The Global Competencies Inventory is a tool used to assess an individual's abilities to effectively communicate and participate in a global or international/cultural context. Because you are a scholar of communication who frequently tweets informatively about current trends, you'd like to share your results, and then add some additional informative content for your followers.
Organize your thoughts according to the following structure (see below). X/Twitter thread structure
- Tweet 1: Report on your intercultural skills (your results from the Global Competencies Inventory Download Global Competencies Inventory-replace Canada/Canadian with the United States). Did anything surprise you? What skill(s) do you think are most useful for flexible intercultural communication?
- Note: it's a great idea to record your responses for yourself somewhere to reference later on!
- Tweet 2: Contrast your strengths (highest-scoring area) and weaknesses (lowest-scoring area). Consider referencing material from our Week 1 readings/resources about one or both of these areas.
- Tweet 3: Identify where you currently fall on the Staircase Model (pp. 37-38 of Understanding Intercultural Communication) and why.
- Tweet 4: Explain cultural competence, using information/concepts from the global competencies inventory and your course materials.
- Tweet 5: Share what stuck out to you most from our course materials. This could be something that surprised you, made you think, related to your lived experience, or was just noteworthy to you in some way.
- (Optional) Tweet 6: A gif or meme representing your feelings about your global competencies inventory result
