There is a need for a safety supervisor at your company, a position that did not previously exist, and the company is concerned they are losing money due to not having a person in this position. Since you have recently taken the OMT 343 class at ASU, and you are always looking for ways to advance (you're a real go getter), the company decided to give you first choice for the position.

Your supervisor tells you that you will still be responsible for 50% of you current job duties and your salary (hourly pay) will not increase. However, starting at the end of the next full quarter, and on each successive quarter, they will give you a bonus of 10% of your salary if you can demonstrate a positive impact of your actions as safety director (this is a good deal). They will gladly send you to additional training and provide learning opportunities and some (read limited) financial resources for you.

Before you leave his office to go home an ponder this opportunity, your supervisor tell you that he believes that the real problems are caused by the 'bad apples' that keep making mistakes, and unless you convince him differently, will have to terminate these people.

What are reasons of NOT taking the position?

no: your supervisor asks you to list 5 to 7 reasons why not. (he is disappointed you said no, but is mostly concerned that something from the OMT 343 class influenced your decision, and he is going to talk to that Kuzel guy about his teaching methods). Even though you are not going to take the position, you must fight for you fellow employees and provide reasons why firing people is not the action to improve safety.
