Think Critically 10-3: Extending the vSphere Data Center
Your manager would like to have you set up a virtual data center that can be used to extend the UAS vSphere environment. In this activity you will access your MyVMware account and then use the VMware lab to learn how to create and deploy virtual machines in a vCloud VDC. In this lab you will be working with a pre-defined vSphere data center that contains a cluster with two hosts, much like the vSphere data center you configured in Chapter 8. By performing the two modules of the lab you will be using a vSphere environment that consists of a single cluster of three hosts. This local vSphere infrastructure is managed by a vCenter Server: vcsa-01a.corp.local. The cloud environment is a dedicated instance in vCloud Air which can be managed via its Web portal or via the tools you will be learning about in this lab. Write a brief report that explains how vCloud Networking Services (ANS) along with vCloud Hybrid Manager could be used to extend the UAS on-premises data center.
If necessary, start your Windows 10 desktop computer and open a browser window to VMware.com.
Log on to your MyVMware account. After logging on, scroll down and click the VMware Hands-on Labs link located under the Try and Purchase heading.
In the left column click the Hybrid Cloud link located under the All Labs heading.
Click the Enroll button in the HOL-1782-HBD-1- VMware vCloud Air - Data Center Extension lab and enter your username and password. (If your password is not recognized use the Reset Password link to reset your password and try again.)
