This activity concentrates upon the extended intermodal supply chain from the ship to the final inland destination. The fictional Merv Container Line has a number of delivery points for its textile retail store customers. These are scattered at a range of distances from their designated port. Merv Line has decided upon three distance bands:

Band A: 0-150 kilometres Band B: 150-400 kilometres Band C: 400-1,000 kilometres
