ABSTRACT ACCOUNTING This paper deals with the time and motion study especially in the decision making in the field of accountings. Further, the benefits of this technique and their implications would be FOR taken into consideration in the view of accounting. The performance of the workforce and time management would be the main factors in this paper. DECISION MAKING AND CONTROL Nelli Mwalilino Introduction The time study has been designed to find the suitable time in order to complete a specific work. It is mainly known as a business efficient technique which is based on the time and motion study. As the name suggests, the time study would specify standard time that would manage and ensure that the requisite work would be completed within the specified time frame. Further, the motion study provides a better and efficient way to finish a job. In this study, the refined technique would be taken into account with standard times to manage and upgrade work. Observe to record method has been used to compute the average or normal requisite time that would be required by each of the activities in the time and study motion process. The major benefits of using time and motion study in business are as listed below (Taylor, 2013): Standardising the work method Division of the work into smaller activities/element Determining the performance of the workforce Determining the average expected time required to finish the work (Jerold, 2009). From the previous research work, it has been observed that implementation of time and motion study in the business model especially in the accounting industry has positively impacted the performance of the business. It not only enhances the performance of the workforce but also adds value to the organisation in terms of achieving monetary goals. The areas which are altered and positively impacted by time and motion study are highlighted below (Taylor, 2013): Cost estimation department Time saving Inventory control Production control Cost cutting Improvement in the work condition 1 Motivation in the workforce Reduction in the wastages The management would successfully manage and take a note of each of the tasks and performance of the workers by implementing this technique (Jerold, 2009). Generally, banks are using time and motion study in order to train sales department personals to attract more customers.
