This assignment is a self-designed fictitious study that uses statistical methods learned throughout this course. First, you will need to develop a fake problem to analyze. Pick any problem that is interesting to you. Here are a few examples: Example 1: You may wish to look at whether class size is related to standardized test performance. Example 2: Perhaps you are interested in investigating whether income level is related to years of education. Example 3: Another example would be if political affiliation is related to gender. Topic: Perhaps you are interested in investigating whether income level is related to years of education. Be sure to include the following in your submission: 1. Description of your research study 2. Clearly stated null and alternative hypotheses 3. List and descriptions of chosen variables you would collect a. Minimum of 3 variables, max 5 b. 2 variables must meet the requirements for regression analysis 4. Fictitious data set created by you to analyze. There should be 30 to 50 observations. 5. Conduct a descriptive data analysis that includes the following: a. Measure of central tendency b. Measure of dispersion c. at least one graph (more is better) 6. Interpret the descriptive data analysis 7. Conduct the appropriate statistical test that will answer your hypothesis. It must be a statistical test covered in this course such as regression analysis, single t-test, independent t-test, cross-tabulations, Chi-square, or One-Way ANOVA. a. Explain your justification for using the test based on the type of data and the level of measurement that the data lends to for the statistical analysis. b. At least one graph/chart/output (more is better) 8. Report your findings and Interpret the results. Clearly state whether to reject or not reject the null hypothesis. 9. Generally follow APA style formatting (but there will not be major points taken off for minor formatting errors).
