This assignment is designed to provide you and the other students with a better appreciation for the real world use of the techniques we are studying this term. (See the last comment in this section for an option to an article review). You will be expected to research and find an article that provides a real world application of one of the techniques that we are studying. A list of references can be found in the various bibliographies at the end of each chapter. Journals would be a good source for an article. Some journals are Supply Chain Management Review, Production and Inventory Management, Journal of Operations Management, Informs, Interfaces, and Business Forecasting. You do not need to limit yourself to these journals. I would encourage you to check for articles using your online library. However, Wikipedia is not acceptable as the primary source and should only be used as a secondary with approval of the instructor. The article must have been published since 2014. Depending on the length of the article, it might be necessary to find two or three related articles. By Monday, October 5, you must submit your article plans to me. This should include the article, author, date of the article, source, and a brief statement of the application. The final report is due Wednesday, November 4. Of course, earlier submissions are acceptable. To give you a guideline for the length of your paper, it should be 34 pages long, double-spaced, font size 12.
