This assignment requires you to apply your learning from LEADING STRATEGICALLY and understanding THE CONTEXT OF STRATEGY to an organisation of your choice (preferably an organisation that one of the group members work for). The organisation that you select should be large (more than 100 employees). You need to conduct you own research on the organisation which could include (but not necessarily be limited to): Semi-structured interviews with senior managers in the organisation (the interview structure will depend on the assignment questions) Review of company documents Review of annual reports (where applicable) Review of news articles and other publications Assignment questions:

1) Use frameworks and concepts from LEADING STRATEGICALLY to analyse the data you collected on the organisation and to assess the quality of strategic leadership in the organisation. Clearly identify what you would regard as their leadership strengths and weaknesses. [30]

2) Make recommendations to the organisation on what they can do to strengthen their strategic leadership. [20]

3) Critically evaluate the processes of sensing, transforming and strategic decisionmaking in the organisation. In your view, how effective have these processes been in enabling the organisation to deal with strategic risks? [30]

4) Make recommendations to the organisation with regard to improving its sensing, transformation and strategic decision-making capabilities.
