Compare and contrast direct conversion and parallel conversion:

Direct is where the system replaces the old instantly, there is no transition period. This is a faster yet rougher transition because although people may have been trained on the new system, they may not know how it works fully, but they may end up knowing it faster/better because they were just thrown in there.

Parallel is where both systems are working for a while until the new system is fully capable. This is a smoother transition because it allows users a backup incase they get stuck at a particular point in using the new system.

Compare and contrast pilot conversion, phased, conversion, and simultaneous conversion.

Pilot one or more locations will get the new software first to test and identify bugs,.
