This group assignment is an opportunity for the students to understand how waiting lines and waiting times are managed by using different Queuing Models. This assignment will be helpful for the students to learn how different types and sizes of companies manage waiting line of customers when they need their customers to either buy products or take services by coming to the service system/outlets. Students will learn how companies use different criteria such population size, arrival rate of customers, service time, channels and service orders to design a queuing system. For these assignment three Queuing Models have been selected - 1. Queuing Model based on Single channel, exponential service time & Infinite-Source of population 2. Queuing Model based on Single channel, Constant service time & Infinite-Source of population 3. Queuing Model based on Single/Multiple channel, exponential/Constant service time & Finite-Source of population Students will need to find one company that follows one of the queuing models mentioned above. Provide brief description about the company (e.g., company background, age, size, products, services, markets etc.) that you have chosen for each queuing model. Analyze how the companies you have selected use these queuing systems based on the 4 common characteristics [1. Population Source - infinite source or finite source, 2.number of Servers (channels), 3.arrival and service patterns and 4.queue discipline (order of service)] to manage customer queuing problems.
