This is a Collaborative Learning Community (CLC) assignment.

The major responsibilities of human resources management (HRM) are attracting, developing, and maintaining a quality workforce. Research an organization, with which you are familiar, that is in need of a change and present how you will manage the change process by incorporating the three essential duties of HRM. Throughout this assignment, teammates will need to demonstrate skills for effective collaboration, negotiation, and teamwork.

Each CLC group will choose one subsystem to change and create the PowerPoint presentation of 12-15 slides (including title and reference slides) addressing the following questions that pertain to the major human resource management responsibilities and to change management. Strengthen your recommendations by showing how your proposed changes are working in another similar organization that is successful.

Address following in your presentation:

  1. Provide an overview of the organization you have chosen including three subsystems of the organization, three stakeholders of the organization, and the reason for selecting this organization.
  2. What one major organizational subsystem needs to be changed in the organization? Justify your choice. How does it compare to a similar successful organization?
  3. How will the subsystem change affect the two other subsystems within the organization that you have identified and how will you realign the total system?
  4. Identify and explain how you would ensure that the proposed change will satisfy any three stakeholders of the organization?
  5. How should the organization attract, develop, andmaintainthe workforce required to bring about your proposed change?
  6. Choose at least one of the following in your discussion about attracting a quality workforce to support the change in Questions 2 and 3 above: human resource planning, recruitment, or selection.
  7. Choose at least one of the following in your discussion about developing a quality workforce to support the change in Questions 2 and 3 above: (and this must tie in to 5a too): employee orientation, training and development, or performance appraisal.
  8. Choose at least one of the following in your discussion about maintaining a quality workforce to support the change in Questions 2 and 3 above (and must relate to 5a and 5b): career development, work-life balance, compensation and benefits, employee retention and turnover, or labor-management relations.

Integrate a faith-based or worldview-based component in the presentation and make a clear connection on how it informs the groups' management practices. (NOTE: Individuals all have a worldview, and that worldview influences their decisions, values, and perceptions. It also affects how they manage people, or think they should be managed. For this assignment, this requirement relates to the worldview of thepresenters.)

Students must submit their Peer Evaluations before midnight on the due date of this assignment.

Include at least four academic references to support your position. One of them should directly relate to the company discussed in your presentation and another to the organization to which you are comparing it. These needed to be cited within your presentation not just as references at the end of the presentation.

Include slide notes with your presentation.

Question 2 : What one major organizational subsystem needs to be changed in the organization? Justify your choice. How does it compare to a similar successful organization? Slide 1 Title- Subsystem Change Image- Source- https://i.ytimg.com/vi/UZG-sFDEEHg/maxresdefault.jpg Slide text: The IT & Mobile Communications subsystem has a goal to focus on people inspired innovation to deepen value and convenience for customers (Samsung, 2020). In 2016, Samsung's Galaxy Note 7 received criticism due to worldwide reports of battery failures and fires (Maring, 2020). Many more incidents have happened, with cases from September 2019 and May 2020. IT & Mobile Communications is the subsystem responsible for these incidents, therefore it is the subsystem which must change. Within the Christian Worldview, companies are responsible for their own actions and ethical decisions. Samsung's actions are inexcusable and unethical. Psalm 25:31 (English Standard Version) says, "May integrity and uprightness preserve me, for I wait for you." Samsung must take accountability for their actions and lack of safety regulation. Speaker slide notes: After the recall of 2.5 million Galaxy Note 7 phones, Samsung officially canceled the phone. There were 100 reported incidents, where 26 users were burned, and 55 users suffered from property damage (Pintas & Mullins, 2020). The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) issued a notice that forbid passengers from bringing it on board airplane (Maring, 2020). Three months after the recall, Samsung released that the issue was due to the combination of two types of batteries from different suppliers. As a result of the incidents, Samsung implemented strict safety measures and assembly guidelines that include an eight-point inspection process (Pintas & Mullins, 2020). This sounds fantastic; however, changes still need to be made. Different Samsung phones, made after the Galaxy Note 7, are catching on fire. For example, in September 2019, a 14-year-old girl died when her phone caught on fire in her sleep. In May, a man in California reported that his phone randomly exploded. Slide 2 Title- How Samsung Compares to Apple Image- Source- https://www.ihelplounge.com/the-latest-blow-in-the-samsung-vs-apple-fight/ Slide text: Samsung and Apple are direct competitors of each other, often criticizing each other's phones in advertisements. In the fourth quarter of last year, Apple shipped 72.9 million iPhones, while Samsung sold 70 million Galaxy phones (Browne, 2020). Apple's subsystems are: Information Systems and Technology, Finance, Legal, People, Learning and Development, and Global Security (Apple, 2020). Both Apple and Samsung have had phones catch on fire. Speaker slide notes: Unlike Samsung, a few days after reports of iPhones catching on fire, Apple immediately addressed issues. Apple launched a free repair and replacement program, and a serial checking tool that allows iPhone owners to check whether an iPhone has a battery deficiency (Brown, 2016). Apple did not hesitate to implement these programs; It took Samsung three months to release information. This information was only released because of public criticism about Samsung's radio silence. Apple has not had any battery issues since then, while Samsung has. Samsung is destroying trust in their ability to build advanced phones that are safe for customers (Pintas & Mullins, 2020). Samsung needs to follow in Apple's footsteps. Within the IT & Mobile Communications subsystem, changes must be made. Further research must be done to identify the exact issues and commonalities in all affected Samsung phones. Transparency is key, and to rebuild public trust, Samsung must not remain silent. Within the HR realm, new employees should be hired that have specific skill sets relevant to phone production. Additionally, there should be a constant feedback loop to ensure all issues are addressed as they happen. HR must keep this subsystem in check to ensure safe and quality products for consumers.
