This is a group assignment (same groups as in Assignment #2). In this course we have now discussed various aspects of quality management. Particularly, in this last module, we discussed a 6-step process for the implementation of quality management.
In this final assignment, you and your partners will bring all aspects of the course together by applying quality management theory and this 6-step process to improve a part of The City of Chehalis information systems and processes. Here is a link to the RFP from the City of Chehalis to give some background to get you started.
Assignment Grading
This assignment counts for 30% of your final course grade. It is graded according to this rubric.
Assignment Instructions
With your team, review the 6-step process as outlined in the Module 4 Course Pack and then consider the The City of Chehalis Microsoft Office 365 Migration project. Work through each of the 6 steps, including the following in a Microsoft Word document:
Step 1 An abbreviated project charter (1-2 pages in length) that includes: a project title, a brief background (what is your proposed change(s) to the task), an objective, a brief list of constraints/boundaries/risks/opportunities, identification of a project leader/team members/sponsors/stakeholders, a brief overview of project milestones, a short summary of project costs, and a sequence and interaction diagram.
Step 2 You do not need to include all of the different plans indicated in this section of the course pack, you are only required to create a Schedule Management Plan. As a part of creating the schedule management plan, ensure that you address the priority of the work (i.e., which of the processes in your task should take priority).
Step 3 In 1-2 paragraphs, briefly discuss the culture that surrounds the proposed changes. Specifically, identify the possible cultural barriers within the organization and who would be valuable members of a process action team.
Step 4 In 1-2 pages, briefly describe your revised processes, and discuss what training would be required in order to prepare the organization for successful implementation of your new processes.
Step 5 In 1 page or less, identify: What could go wrong on the launch day of your new processes? What contingency actions should be contemplated? Should those contingency actions be incorporated into the launch plan or await a trigger?
Step 6 In 1 page or less, briefly describe the actions you would take to follow up on your launch within the first three weeks and within the first year.
