1. The data file agstrat.dat also contains information on other variables. For each of the following quantities, plot the data, and estimate the population mean for that variable along with its standard error and a 95% CI. Compare your answers with those from the SRS in Exercise 15 of Chapter 2.

a) Number of acres devoted to farms, 1987

Note. For problem(a), the sizes of the four strata NC, NE, S and W are 1054, 220, 1382 and 422 respectively. The handout "Working with stratified random samples" has some R code which could prove useful in some of the problems.
