This is a webgem on shear force and bending moment for a beam. We have a beam consisting of three segments. A first segment from $A$ to $B,$ a second segment from $B$ to $C,$ and a third segment from $C$ to $D.$ The $B-$to$-C$ segment is pinned at $B$ and has a roller support at $C.($Sometimes $C$ is called a 'simple support.$\text{'})$ The ends of the beam at A and $D$ are fixed or 'built$-$in$.\text{'}$ need to 'take it apart,$\text{'}$ First the segment $B-$to$-C$ is studied. That sets the stage to do 'theoretical cuts' at $E$ and $F.$ It is instructive to then use the other halves of the theoretical cuts to determine wall reactions at A and $D.$ We finish with a full$-$system study to verify that our results are correct.
