This is another difficult situation. Since we have been cutting corners for a long
time with our longtime loyal customer, they may have been getting away with
illegal activities the whole time. Regardless of how long a customer has been with
you, it is always a good practice to follow protocols, to avoid bad situations. I
would agree with the sentiment, that if you have had them long enough you don't
need to be as strict, or as hard going, but some basics should still be followed. I
work at a bank, and some of our long time customers, or people we see all the
time, we don't ID them, or ask for verification.
In this instance, since VV is a long time customer of ours, we would have some
sort of implied contract between us, as well as paperwork of previous work we
had done for them. In this instance, since we always ship their goods, and they
asked us to ship them again, we did so without question. (Beatty 187). The court
might rule that since we always ship their goods, and they always pay us, this one
time we didn't write a contract they still are obligated to pay for the shipment.
Since my driver was pulled over for speeding in this instance, he would be
responsible for that ticket. The illegal goods however, would not be on him. We
would use the same implied contract, of how we always ship their goods, and
argue that we had no knowledge of the goods we were shipping other than the
veggies. While we could have easily just placed the marijuana in the shipment as
well as VV, there is no evidence for us being the ones placing it there. This would Hopefullybe solved by security footage of VV loading the truck, and not our company.
This is another difficult situation. Since we have been cutting corners
