Research Project Proposal

Consider a potential work-related or a cause-related research project and follow the format below to provide an explanation/rationale for your choice. Submit the assignment as a pdf document and use the title of the attachment for a descriptive heading.

Note: This assignment is a research proposal only, i.e. you're not expected to undertake the actual research.

1. Summary: How would I briefly describe my proposed research? (one paragraph)

2. Background/Reason: Why is the research important and necessary? (one paragraph) What is my purpose in undertaking the research? (one paragraph)

3. Details: What exactly would I expect to do in the proposed research. (three paragraphs) Why am I qualified and/or motivated to undertake the research? (two paragraphs) What methods and resources will I use and why are they appropriate? (two paragraphs)

4. Action: How would I summarize the long-term value/benefits of my research? (two paragraphs)

Why is my career choice an intelligent decision?

Self-Assessment:

a) take the 16 Personalities Test - in a five to six-sentence paragraph, reflect on the results in terms of how accurate you feel the assessment is

b) rank your skills according to the following criteria, beginning with the skill you feel is the strongest, and write a two-sentence explanation for each:

• problem-solving
• teamwork/cooperation
• leadership/supervision
• client/customer service
• communication
• resource management

c) in priority order, list the three values that are most important to you and explain why in three sentences for each one

Career Plan: In the second part of the assignment undertake some research into the career youre pursuing and write a five to six-sentence paragraph answer to question a), and three to four sentences each for b), c), and d). Make sure your responses are substantive.

a) how does the work involved in my profession connect with my personality, skills, and values?

b) what are the outcomes (the placement rate for graduates) for the program in which I am currently enrolled?

c) what is the most recent labour market information about my profession including job availability and wages in the region where I plan to work?

d) what will be my next step after completing my studies at University?
