This is for a graduate level course. Any help would be appreciated!
Introduction to the Activity:
Broad-based changes such as mergers and acquisitions bring lots of challenges and frequent resistance from employees. Those who are not furloughed worry about what these changes will mean to them, and an effective change leader will rely on a detailed change plan and effective communication to assuage the negative effects caused by fear of the unknown.
Your Response:
Case Study 23.1 in Chapter 23 in the Hayes textbook describes the acquisition of Eco-Pure by KeyChemicals and the implementation process, including the critical component of managing people issues. Read through the case study. Then post a response of between 300 and 500 words (three paragraphs) that addresses the following:
First paragraph: Based on the case study, at this early point (pre-decision to acquire), identify and briefly explain the issues you feel the acquisition leaders will have to attend to if the acquisition is to be implemented successfully.
Second paragraph: Next, assume the decision to acquire Eco-Pure has been made and the Eco-Pure owners have agreed. Focus on the people issues involved. What needs to be addressed in this regard for effective implementation and merging of the two groups of employees?
Third paragraph: How effective were the communication strategies used by KeyChemicals? What might they have done better, if anything?
