BAD204 Leadership Development 3: Leadership Course Project Fictional Character Leadership Analysis
Tyson (2005) claims that a critical study of fiction helps us learn to see ourselves and our world in valuable new ways, ways that influence everything from our religious and political views, to the way we deal with and recognize our own motives, fears, and desires. Choose a movie or series to analyze its inclusion of leadership concepts covered throughout the course. In case of series, basing your analysis on three consecutive episodes (of 45 to 60 minutes) is more than enough. However, students are free to take into consideration as many episodes as they would like Things to do
1. Notify the course instructor about your choice of the show which will either be accepted or rejected. It is not possible for different students to work on the same show. Therefore, its highly recommended to reserve your choice the soonest possible. (P.S.: I would recommend you choosing new movies/series as older ones might have a lot of research done on)
2. Watch the movie/series carefully (even if you have watched it in advance, its better to watch it again)
3. Select characters on which youd like to report on. Please note that you may select just one character if you find it quite interesting to talk about it. It is also possible to choose more than one character which will open the road for comparison and contrast between the characters.
4. Start writing the report (of a maximum of 3 pages with a font of 12, 1.15 line spacing, Calibri/Times New Roman) analyzing the leadership related aspects in it.
When writing the report, consider 1. Presenting the movie/series by explaining the plot and the characters 2. Argue on your choice of character(s) 3. When mentioning a specific event, please mention its occurrences timing. 4. Review all the topics and concerning slides covered in class so that you get to know what to discuss about. 5. Select acts, scenes or deeds done by your chosen character and interpret them accordingly 6. Do not hesitate to consult the instructor for any further clarification Referenced publication: Tyson, L (2005). Critical theory today: A user-friendly guide. (2nd ed.). New York, NY: Routledge.
