Case study 1

The students ' performance plays an important role in producing best quality graduates who will become great leaders and manpower for the country thus responsible for the country's economic and social development . Academic performance or achievement is one of the major factors considered by employers in hiring workers especially among fresh graduates . Thus, students have to put the greatest effort in their study to obtain good grades and to prepare themselves for future opportunities in their career at the same time to fulfil employers ' demand . Students ' academic performance and graduation rates have been the area of interest for higher education institutions . Investigation of factors related to the academic performance of universities students become a topic of growing interest in higher educational circle . Some universities identify that some of their students withdraw from college or to graduate with low grades , which often makes it difficult for them to obtain suitable jobs . UITM is one of the well -known universities in Malaysia and this university also face the challenge to increase its students ' academic performance. UITM has commissioned you to carry out a research project to identify why students of bachelor programs did not perform in their study . A few factors had been suggested to you such as teaching and learning process, family and peer's ; and financial . It influence student's problems is hoped that this research can pinpoint whether all factors are important to increase bachelor students ' academic performance . The outcome of this study would help UITM management and other universities ' management to better understand the overall picture of students ' academic performance.
