This passage below require analysis and breakdown
There are a lot of questions wrapped into a single burrito here. For starters, healthcare has a manager of this sort in many various fields. From payscale.com, "Continuous improvement managers are responsible for measuring and testing procedures in a company with an eye to improving production efficiency. They also identify new metrics for judging efficiency, as well as work with human resources employees or trainers to develop curriculum to bring hires to peak efficiency quickly" ("Continuous improvement manager salary," n.d., para 3).
The quality improvement directors (QID) are what most healthcare professionals think of when they hear continuous quality improvement. The QID receives input from a number of different sources such as revenues from the finance folks, inventory from the materiels management folks, medication errors from the internal quality teams, falls and patient events from the quality teams, and the list goes on. They use these numbers daily and compare them to PY, YOY, MOM, and other external environments such as other hospitals and clinics.
If I were to be in this role of continuous improvement, I would use the same tools and would hope to get more. One additional tool I would hope to have is patient responses to surveys. I would like to know what the patients are saying about the facility they visited, the health care providers they saw, the staff they interacted with, and any other aspects of their visit that could be considered a proving ground for the health system.
I believe this philosophy would entwine Christian values. For me, I realize that putting God first in healthcare is a matter of placing myself second and often third. I gladly put patients ahead of myself when and where possible. Using quality as a guide for me to know when, where, and how better to make the patient happy, and comfortable in their more dire needs time of life, is a pleasure I gladly take on.
