This project will be conducted individually. As a student you will use ChatGPT (free version) or another AI platform to complete parts of the assignment. There are many conflictful and tension-filled philosophies around the use of AI in higher education, (environmentally, inaccurate information) specifically around writing, so please be in contact with me via email if you prefer not to use ChatGPT in this assignment and we will discuss options. That said, the use of ChatGPT is aimed at enhancing your creativity, idea generation, brainstorming, and refining in this assignment, not for writing your grant. It should not replace your own voice and writing, because you will need to articulate your own thoughts during the Zoom presentation, and it will be very obvious if you have not completed the necessary groundwork. Verify any sources especially in the literature review, where AI is often inaccurate! Please note I use an AI detection that can identify what is potentially AI generated and what is human generated. Hypothetical Mini-Grant Proposal to a hypothetical funding agency You will select an early childhood mental health topic of interest and develop a hypothetical mini-grant proposal to a hypothetical funder. You may ask for between $3000 to $10,000 and it must be used within a 2-year period or less. There are 3 parts to the assignment:
Part A: Writing a hypothetical mini grant with a logic model. I will offer you an outline below with the headings/areas needed in the part A of the mini-grant. There are a variety of sample Logic Models in the left side bar of our Brightspace landing page. Part A requires some thought, a small literature review, and some time. Allow yourself plenty of time to complete this first part.
Part B: will be a PowerPoint /Canva type presentation to me via Zoom which you will sign up for towards the final weeks of the semester. This will be "as if" you are proposing your grant to me as a hypothetical funder. In this presentation you will show me your understanding of the grant you are proposing and answer my questions. This requires you to fully understand the material of interest in the course. Be prepared to also answer how you used ChatGPT, for what purposes and any interesting results. o I will offer a variety of time slots (morning, afternoon, evening and work with your schedule). You should plan on a least an hour if there are 2 students signed up or a half hour if it is only you.
Part C: A 2-pg reflection paper about the grant writing experience and how you used ChatGPT. Questions to answer: Was it helpful and how? What are you concerned about when using any Artificial Intelligence in your coursework across the University? There will be three (3) DUE DATES: Part A due Date: Thursday, November 21st by 11:59 pm
