This question is based on Contract Law UK. On Friday Max, who was in desperate need of money, advertised in the local newspaper for the sale of his rare stamp collection at 100,000. Zack dropped by Max's house to see the collection. He liked it and offered Max 90,000 for the collection. Max insisted on maintaining the price at 100,000. On the following Monday Zack received a letter from Max stating that Max was willing to accept a sum of 95,000 for the collection. The letter also stated that this offer was open until 4.00 pm on Wednesday. On Tuesday Max's old friend David offered to buy the collection for 92,000. Max immediately accepted the offer and told David that he would deliver the stamp collection to him the following week. Max then sent a letter to Zack revoking his offer of 95,000. On Wednesday Zack posted a letter to Max at 9.00am accepting Max's offer of 95,000. Zack then went to the supermarket to shop for some groceries where he happened to meet Max's butler, Derek, at 10.00 am. Derek informed Zack that a day earlier Max had agreed to sell the stamp collection to David for 92,000. Zack received Max's letter revoking the offer of 95,000 at 5.00pm on Wednesday. On Thursday Max won a lottery. Since he longer needed money urgently, Max changed his mind about selling his stamp collection to anyone. He telephoned David and informed him that he would not be selling the collection. Both Zack and David are threatening to bring actions for damages for breach of contract against Max. Advise Max as to whether he has a valid and binding contract with any one or more of them. Would your answer differ if Malaysian Contract Law were applicable
