DHCP Reservation - I was curious as to the benefits of DHCP reservation over assigning static IP's. It seems DHCP reservation is the preferred method as it gives you a more centrally located way of managing the reservation as opposed to going to each device and entering the static IP. This is also good for devices that don't have an easy way to access IP settings.

Superscope and Multicast Scope - Superscope allows you to use a single DHCP server to assign leases to clients on multiple subnets. One of the biggest benefits to superscopes is ease in administration of a multiple subnet environment. A multicast scope is a collection of multicast addresses that are used when an application needs to communicate with numerous clients simultaneously. Applications that request addresses from a multicast scope must support the MADCAP(Multicast Address Client Allocation Protocol) API. Multicast scopes allow an application to reserve a multicast IP from the DHCP server.

Load Balance and Hot Standby - Load balance is a fail over that has data replicated between 2 servers. By default the servers will split the addresses 50:50 but can be set up on your preference. If one server goes down the other can automatically take over 100 percent till the second server comes back up.

Hot Standby is better if you have DHCP servers located in different physical locations. You configure one server as a primary and the other as a secondary. The secondary server will only be used if the primary one is unavailable. As soon as the primary server becomes available it will begin taking requests again.
