This week, we are continuing to learn about Formulating the Reward and Compensation Strategy - in other words, how do we put all of the pieces together that we've covered so far this semester? For this discussion topic, consider the following: Executive compensation has become a hot topic over the past number of years - what do you think about executive compensation? Do you think executives, including CEOs are paid too much? There is a quote from a manager at United Technologies found in your textbook on page 208 that says: "I used to go to work enthusiastically. Now, I just go in to do what I have to do. I feel overloaded to the point of burnout. Most of my colleagues are actively looking for other jobs or are just resigned to doing the minimum. At the same time, the CEO is paid millions, and his salary is going up faster than anyone else's. It makes me angry and resentful." From the perspective of this particular employee, the CEO is paid too much. But being the CEO is a difficult job, and some may argue that you need to compensate executives well or you will never find anyone who wants to take on the role of CEO. What do you think? Do you think that compensation levels earned by Canadian CEOs are excessive (too much)? Why or why not? Share your thoughts, opinions, and perspectives with your classmates! Remember that this is a class discussion forum and is open to all MGMT 259 students (both sections), and that your discussion forum contributions contribute to your professionalism grade. Please refer to the MGMT 259 2021F Syllabus for details on how professionalism will be assessed this semester
